What this site is, and what it is not

Bitcaliper exists to make one number believable: how large the Bitcoin key space really is.

What we do not do

We do not help anyone reach a wallet that is not theirs, and we could not do it even if we wanted to. Not because of a policy, but because of the arithmetic below. If you came here hoping to find a funded key, the honest answer is that you will not, and neither will anyone else, no matter how long they keep clicking.

  • No key is stored anywhere. Every page is worked out again from its page number.
  • Nothing you do here is submitted to us. Balance lookups happen in your own browser.
  • There is no search by balance, no bulk scanning, and no way to walk pages automatically.

Why looking is pointless

A Bitcoin private key is one number out of roughly 1077. For scale, that is close to the number of atoms in the observable universe. Suppose you could check a trillion keys every second, and suppose you had been doing it since the universe began: you would still have covered so little of the space that the share rounds to zero on any calculator you own.

This is not a difficulty setting that better hardware moves. Checking the whole space would take more energy than the Sun puts out over decades, and that assumes perfect efficiency, which physics does not allow. The energy and time bounds are worked through here.

Every reported case of someone "cracking" a Bitcoin key turns out to be something else on closer reading: a passphrase-derived brain wallet, a broken random number generator, malware on the owner's machine, or a phishing page. Never a guessed key.

Why show the keys at all

Because a number that large stops meaning anything when you only read it. Walking through pages of real keys and watching every single address come back empty makes the scale land in a way that a sentence cannot. That is the whole exhibit.

How to use this safely

Never type a private key or a seed phrase into any website, including this one. We never ask for either, and any site that does should be treated as an attempt to take your coins. To generate keys for real use, use audited offline tools such as Sparrow or a hardware wallet, and read how to store keys safely first.
